Parks & Recreation Commission Opportunities

Are you interested in recreation, athletics and Ojai’s many diverse outdoor spaces? Do you want to help shape recreation programs here in Ojai?

The City of Ojai Parks and Recreation Commission has two openings, and residents of the City, and of the Ojai Valley are invited to apply.

Parks and Recreation Commissioners are volunteers who develop Ojai’s Recreation programs and activities, review policies and plans for parks and public areas, and serve as an advisory body to the City Council.

The City of Ojai’s proposed FY 2017-18 budget document is now available for review. The budget will be discussed at a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Ojai Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m.

Leaf Blower Enforcement Resumes July 1, 2017: Information Fliers now Available in English and Spanish

The City of Ojai’s municipal code limits the use of gas-powered leaf blowers (Ojai Municipal Code Section 5-11.05). The city suspended enforcement of this ordinance in 2014, but enforcement resumes on July 1, 2017.

FAQ fliers are now available in both English and Spanish, listing information that residents and landscape professionals need to know.

City Began Enforcement of Signage Regulations on June 1, 2017

The City of Ojai is well-known for its appreciation of history, unique aesthetics, and small town character. In order to preserve these characteristics, the City requires all residents and business owners to adhere to the City’s signage ordinances. Effective June 1, 2017, the City has begun enforcing its signage regulations.

The City has noticed increases in A-Frame/menu board signs (commonly referred to as “sandwich boards”) and banners throughout the City. These signs are not allowed under the City’s municipal code.
