Thomas Fire

There is a fast moving, active brush fire that started north of Santa Paula near Highway 150 and has burned into the city limits of Ventura and toward Highway 33. The fire is currently estimated at 31,000 acres and is being pushed by strong east winds. Fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are expected to attack the fire at daybreak. The fire is still out of control and structures continue to be threatened throughout the fire area.

Full 11/14/16 Council Meeting Available to View Now on Youtube

During the November 14, 2017 regular City Council meeting, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the City’s video server suffered from network issues that interrupted the televised video playback. City staff has diagnosed the issue, and rebooted the affected server this afternoon, between meeting broadcasts to avoid any further impact to the television channel. The server rebooted without any issue. Staff does not anticipate further issues from this server, but will monitor tonight’s Planning Commission meeting.

The City’s Council meeting recording is complete and was not effected by any technical issues.

Parks & Recreation Commission Opportunities

Are you interested in recreation, athletics and Ojai’s many diverse outdoor spaces? Do you want to help shape recreation programs here in Ojai?

The City of Ojai Parks and Recreation Commission has two openings, and residents of the City, and of the Ojai Valley are invited to apply.

Parks and Recreation Commissioners are volunteers who develop Ojai’s Recreation programs and activities, review policies and plans for parks and public areas, and serve as an advisory body to the City Council.

The City of Ojai’s proposed FY 2017-18 budget document is now available for review. The budget will be discussed at a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Ojai Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m.
