SBA Stands Ready to Assist California Businesses and Residents Affected by Wildfires, Flooding, Mudflows and Debris Flows

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Low-interest federal disaster loans are now available to California businesses and residents as a result of President Trump’s major disaster declaration, U.S. Small Business Administration’s Administrator Linda McMahon announced.


The declaration covers Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties as a result of the wildfires, flooding, mudflows and debris flows directly related to the wildfires that began Dec. 4, 2017.

Portions of Highway 101 to Remain Closed

Caltrans has announced that Highway 101 is still closed from the Ventura/Santa Barbara County Line to South Milpas Street in Santa Barbara due to mudslides, and it is not expected to reopen until next week. Caltrans noted that there are 75 Caltrans employees working on both Highway 101 and Highway 192 in 12-hour shifts, 24 hours a day, and every day of the week to reach that goal.

Free Recovery and Insurance Orientation Workshop to be held at County of Ventura Hall of Administration

A free “Roadmap to Recovery” recovery and insurance orientation workshop for victims of the Thomas Fire will be held at the Ventura County Government Center on Monday, January 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the County of Ventura Hall of Administration, Board of Supervisors’ Hearing Room, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura.

Workshop Topic will be: Information and guidance on first steps on the road to recovery and navigating insurance claims.

There will be free parking for the event in Parking Lot G.
