The City of Ojai seeks a full-time accountant for its Finance Department. The Finance Department is responsible for the City’s financial accounting and reporting, audits, budget preparation, payroll and accounts payable, fixed asset inventory, issuance of business licenses, cashiering, and collection of fines. The Accountant position reports directly to the Finance Director.
The Finance Department is served by a director and four full-time staff, and provides indirect administrative support to other City departments.
The ideal candidate is expected to be a self-starter with minimal supervision. He or she must be a good listener, be able to communicate clearly and concisely, and have a strong work ethic. For a full list of qualifications and skills needed, please see the flyer in the “Jobs” section.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline or combination thereof
The ideal candidate will have experience in public agency accounting and finance and/or CPA firm experience, or a combination of education and skills necessary for the position.
