Ojai residents can participate in the planning of Sarzotti Park and future recreation opportunities at a
public outreach meeting this Saturday at 1 p.m.
The meeting is part of an effort to gather public input on an update to the Sarzotti Park Master Plan, as
well as to get feedback on recreation programming and facility needs. The meeting is being led by staff
from Community Works Design Group, a consulting firm hired by the City with expertise in park
planning and development, and City recreation staff. Free childcare, supervised by City recreation staff,
is being provided for the meeting.
“It is vital that we hear from local residents before we make any decisions that would impact the park
and the neighborhood,” said Deputy City Manager Steve McClary. “In addition to Saturday’s meeting,
residents can also give us their thoughts via a survey on Ojai’s parks and recreation opportunities.
We’re hoping we can also get into a little dialogue at Saturday’s meeting on what people really want to
see there. We have an opportunity to make some park improvements, and don’t want to go into the
The meeting will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 29 in the multipurpose room at the
Boyd Center, located in Sarzotti Park at 510 Park Road. Input from the meeting will be considered for
the update to the master plan. The process is expected to wrap up in the fall, after input from the
City’s Parks & Recreation Commission and City Council.
