Neighborhood Planning

The City has embarked on a multi-phase process to better plan our unique neighborhoods, preserve our small-town and rural character, and:

  • Guide the quality and design of new development to preserve Ojai’s village scale, and reflect the unique character of each of Ojai’s neighborhoods.
  • Provide design standards for Ojai’s streets to better balance accommodations for pedestrians, cyclists, horse, and automobiles (“complete streets”).

Neighborhood Planning Workshop #2

January 9, 2015

Boyd Center at Sarzotti Park, 510 Park Road, Ojai

In the second workshop our consultants:

  • Refined the character area map based on comments heard from the first Workshop attendees.
  • Presented the vision for each character area in terms of building type, scale, and intensity; private frontage types; public frontage character.
  • Demonstrated and highlighted how the recommendations correlate to the neighborhoods and downtown, particularly in terms of how the public frontages relate to the private frontages; and how landscape may be woven into the public frontages as part of the traffic calming as well as beautification.
