Reminder: Amgen Bicycle Tour Travels Through Ventura County Monday, May 14, 2018

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will briefly close certain freeway ramps and state highway lanes in Ventura County on Monday, May 14, for the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race.- Possible delays on Highway 150.

Stage 2 of the seven-day competition will start at the Ventura Pier at 11:15 a.m. Monday and finish in Santa Barbara County after racing across Ventura County on city streets, local roads and portions of State Routes 34,

Residents Are Invited To Take Part In An Evacuation Research Study!

 

A group of researchers from the University of California, Berkeley are interested in knowing your wildfire evacuation story and how you were impacted by the recent wildfires. This work could be crucial for gaining major insights of wildfire evacuees and developing a more resilient California.

 

Participants are invited to fill out a simple survey regarding the recent wildfire evacuation, that will take roughly 20 minutes.

Reminder: New Dialing Procedure for Customers with 805 Area Code.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) reminds residential and business customers served by the 805 area code to prepare for the introduction of the new 820 area code. The 820 area code will be added as an overlay to the 805 region to ensure a continuing supply of telephone numbers for the area. An overlay is the addition of another area code (820) to the same geographic region served by an existing area code (805).

Quick Guide for Second Dwelling Compliance Program

On February 27, 2018, the City Council directed City staff to implement the recommendations of the City’s Building Appeals Board to promote the second-unit/accessory dwelling compliance program, which ends on March 8, 2019. The City has a 20-page brochure about the program, which can be found by clicking this link. However, staff was directed to create a one-page quick guide to the Second Unity Compliance Program, and make the information available via the City’s website and Facebook page.

April is Fair Housing Month

April is Fair Housing Month, and April 11, 2018, marks the 50th anniversary of passage of the Fair Housing Act, officially known as Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, signed into law by President Johnson.

As originally written, the Act outlawed housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin or religion in housing sales, rentals and brokerage services. It was later amended to also protect against discrimination based on sex.
