Ventura County Health Officer Order Effective March 17, 2020

Ventura County Public Health officials  have released several new restrictions effective March 18, 2020, in response to the coronavirus. The restrictions include the the temporary closure of certain businesses and shelter-in-place orders for vulnerable populations.

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. all Ventura County residents age 75 and older are ordered to shelter in place through April 1. The shelter-in-place order also applies to residents age 70 and older with underlying health issues.

Mayor’s Message Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Ojai residents,

As members of the Ojai community, we are all understandably concerned about the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). As Mayor of the City of Ojai, I would like to share actions taken by the City of Ojai, but also share actions that residents can and should take to keep each other, and our community, safe.
This situation is unprecedented, we must be calm and reasonable. This is a public health crisis, and the lead agency for our area is the Ventura County Public Health Department.

Update from Ventura County Animal Services Regarding COVID-19

In an effort to adhere to social distancing guidelines for COVID-19 while continuing to provide as much service as possible to the community, the Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) will be limiting Field Services with the following activities being suspended/postponed until further notice:

  1. Scheduled Barking Nuisance Hearings—Postponed and will be rescheduled
  2. Barking Nuisance Investigation—Suspended
  3. Non-Barking Nuisance Investigations—Will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  4. Public Education/Outreach Events—Suspended
  5. Kennel Inspections and Permitting—Suspended
  6. Rooster Inspections and Permitting—Suspended
  7. License Canvassing—Suspended

March 16, 2020 Update Regarding COVID – 19

There is a lot of information and misinformation going around about COVID-19, otherwise known as the coronavirus. Coronavirus is serious, but no reason to panic. We wanted to take this opportunity to provide some important information to residents.

At this time, the best thing for residents to do is to practice social distancing in order to “flatten the curve” and not pass on the virus to others.

Coronavirus Update – Governor Newsom calls for Additional Measures on Sunday 3/15/2020

Ojai residents,

In response to coronavirus, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has called for all bars, wineries, nightclubs and brewpubs to close in California. He also urged seniors and people with chronic conditions to isolate themselves at home to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Governor Newsom also stated that measures should also be taken to reduce current occupancy in restaurants by half to keep people farther away from each other. Newsom
unveiled the new measures at a press conference.
