Emergency City Council Meeting to be held at 1 p.m. Today to Ratify the City Manager’s Declaration of a Local Emergency

At 1 p.m. today (March 13, 2020), the City Council will hold an Emergency City Council meeting to ratify the City Manager’s declaration of a local emergency. The City Manager declared a local emergency earlier this morning. By City Code, the City Council must ratify the decision within 7 days. The City Council will also discuss the City’s response to the public health emergency, and discuss needed actions.

Coronavirus Update from Ventura County Public Health (03/10/2020)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that the only presumptive positive case in Ventura County is positive. The patient remains in home quarantine. There have been 34 people tested, 1 positive case and 33 negative results. There are 22 travelers, with no symptoms, on home quarantine and 0 travelers at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu. There have been no cases of person-to-person transmission in the County of Ventura. The California Department of Public Health is not recommending the cancellation of public events.

City Weed Abatement Program Begins April 21, 2020

With Spring beginning less than a month from now, the City of Ojai would like to remind residents that a working partnership between property owners, their neighbors, the City of Ojai and the Ventura County Fire Department is the best defense against disastrous fires. Ojai residents and property owners should be aware that dry, poorly maintained vegetation creates an extreme fire danger to their homes. The City of Ojai and the Fire Department does not recommend indiscriminate clearing of native chaparral and other vegetation.
