The City of Ojai has announced a new text messaging system that allows residents to sign up for alerts from the City, or to text issues to the City.

Residents can sign up for occasional updates by texting the keyword “OJAICA1” to 91896 from their cell phone. After the initial keyword is sent, residents will be asked to confirm that they are “opting in.” The City has been providing COVID-19 updates via this text system in recent weeks.

Residents can also snap a picture of an issue and text the City to report it. For Code Enforcement concerns, text the word CODE and respond to a few questions to report an issue. The system will then provide that information to the City’s Code Enforcement Officer for follow up. Residents can also report Public Works concerns, such as potholes, by texting the word REPORT and responding to a few questions.

As the deadline for brush clearance within the City approaches, and as the City’s conversion to electric landscape equipment continues, this text messaging system can be used to get more information or report an issue regarding these programs. Below is a list of businesses that have been certified as using electric equipment within the City of Ojai. The City cannot endorse any particular company, and is not liable, but is providing this information as a resource.
