Many Gas-Powered Landscaping Equipment Items Prohibited:

The City of Ojai is reminding residents that most gas-powered landscaping equipment is prohibited and only electric-powered models may be used. (Ojai Municipal Code Section 5-11.01 through 5-11.05) Gas powered equipment not only pollutes the air but make a lot of noise that disturb our neighborhoods.

The City of Ojai is asking for your help on this path to cleaner air by ensuring that you and your gardener use electric landscaping equipment or rakes. Hours of operation of electric leaf blowers in residential zones are limited to 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays and prohibited on Sundays and City holidays. In all other zones, hours of operation are limited to 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and prohibited on City holidays.

What is allowed? Electric-powered models of the following: Leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, lawn edgers, pole-hedge trimmers, string trimmers, pole saws, non-riding lawn mowers

Are there any exceptions? Gas-powered riding lawn mowers, Chain saws and other landscape equipment not listed above.

Most Construction Prohibited on Weekends:

The City of Ojai’s noise regulations are intended to preserve Ojai’s quiet, residential environment. Construction authorized by a valid City permit is limited to the hours of Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No construction work shall be performed on the weekends or City holidays. Some exceptions apply. Contact the City of Ojai Community Development Department (CDD) at (805)646-5581 Ext. 112 to find out if your project requires a permit.
